The Center for Paleontology Research and Education, Mahasarakham University, participated in the 8th Asia Pacific Geopark Network Symposium, an international conference hosted by UNESCO Global Geopark and Asia Pacific Geopark Network Symposium (APGN), from 12-15 September 2024 at Non Nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, Cao Bang Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mongkol Utchachan, Director of the Center for Paleontology Research and Education, along with Dr. Bouziane Khalloufi, a researcher, and Mr. Kantanat Trakulwirayut, a graduate student in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Mahasarakham University.
They presented their work and exchanged experiences in paleontology research for the development of geoparks in Thailand. There has been academic cooperation (MoU) with Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Science, along with cooperation with the Department of Mineral Resources and various educational institutions. The results of paleontological studies in the areas of Phetchabun Geopark, Chaiyaphum Geopark, Loei Province, Nong Khai Province, Sa Kaeo Province and Kanchanaburi Province have been presented.
